I’ve received many telephone calls and emails from residents who are concerned about the possible sale of the Grand Highland Golf Course. The property is privately owned and currently up for sale, being marketed as a residential development opportunity.
At this point, I can say that a buyer faces a tremendous uphill battle, with strong opposition from your councillor, needing to have the property rezoned from recreational to residential. The existence of fly ash on the property will be at least a $35-million clean up. And finally, they’ll face resistance from the community, which I serve, for any contentious zoning changes.
