Hockey & Soccer Pitches Coming to Malton Village Park

The City recently purchased 9.5 acres of land to add to Malton Village Park – sections 1&3 on this diagram. The city will be building a field hockey pitch and a soccer field on that land for the community. There will be access and on street parking on Drew Road as well as the small parking lot off Beverly Street.

The land purchased was zoned “employment land” so it could not be used for the much needed housing in Malton.

MALTON Letters Light Up Derry Road!

The spectacular MALTON letters on Derry Road were a joint project between the Province of Ontario’s previous Liberal Government and the Malton Business Improvement Association (BIA). It was tendered by the City and built by UNIT 11, the same company that built the letters at Toronto City Hall. The project was installed on time December 2019, and within the budget of approximately $400,000. The letters can be lit in any combination of colours but is most frequently in white with the red ❤️

The AVRO Returns

More info will be coming soon on our $3.6m project to build a full scale AVRO Arrow!

The AVRO reproduction will be on a 22 foot arm attached to a pedestal, located at Paul Coffey Park — close to the actual site of the A.V. Roe plant which was on what is now GTAA lands, Derry/Airport Road.

Funds at $3.1m and construction started. Lots more info to come!

The Malton BIA Bike Shop

August 2020  — the Malton BIA used the funding that usually goes into a huge Canada Day event, with spectacular fireworks, to rent Victory Hall for the month, put protective coverings on the floors, buy equipment and supplies and set up a Bike Repair Shop. The purpose of the shop was to process donated bikes from individuals and organizations like the Region of Peel Waste Management Department and MiWay lost bikes.

PUBLIC MEETING TONIGHT IN MALTON

Tonight at VICTORY HALL FROM 7PM-9PM, there will be a Public Meeting to review proposed options for regulating infill housing – this includes restrictions on heights, side yards, setbacks and lot coverage. Several options for the new control by-laws will be presented, similar to the site plan approvals currently in effect in the Villages of Port Credit and Streetsville. Those in attendance will choose the option they prefer.
