Champion for Mississauga Residents
Carolyn Parrish is the Mayor of Mississauga and a lifelong advocate for her community. Her career in municipal politics is distinguished by her unwavering commitment to fairness, innovation, and improving the lives of residents across the city.
Since first becoming a Peel School Board trustee in 1985, her service to Mississauga continues to be rooted in education and building for the future. As a Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary, she engaged in matters related to Immigration, Public Works, and Housing. During her 13 years in Ottawa, she also served as Chair of the NATO Parliamentary Committee and was the first woman to serve as Vice-Chair of the International NATO Parliamentary Association.
As a seasoned Councillor for Ward 5, she championed the creation of the Malton Youth Hub, investing in a safe place to empower young people and families in one of Mississauga’s most diverse neighbourhoods. The Hub provides services, programs, and cultural activities that reflect the needs of the community, including counselling and hot lunches to more than 300 young people per day, alongwith after-school snacks and drinks.

Mayor of Mississauga
Since becoming Mayor, Carolyn has focused on building a city that is inclusive, prosperous, and responsive to the needs of its people. Her leadership is defined by bold initiatives and collaborative advocacy, including:
Mayor’s Housing Task Force:
Recognizing the urgent need for housing solutions, Mayor Parrish established the Mayor’s Housing Task Force, which delivered 30 actionable recommendations to address housing affordability and supply. Under her guidance, Mississauga Council approved measures resulting in commitments for over 11,400 new housing units in 2025, including innovative zoning reforms and incentives for affordable housing.
Advocacy with the Region of Peel:
A tireless advocate for the City of Mississauga at the regional level, as Mayor, Carolyn continues to highlight and fight the disproportionate share of financial responsibility Mississauga taxpayers carry for services at the Region, for police, roads, and waste collection.
Building Provincial and Federal Partnerships:
Carolyn has secured substantial funding from senior levels of government, including $113 million from the Federal Housing Accelerator Fund. She continues to press provincial partners for support in housing, transit, and social services, building consensus and driving results for Mississauga.
Service Improvements:
Carolyn has spearheaded expanded transit service hours, introduced free fares for seniors and children, including free seniors’ membership at city community centres, improved cycling infrastructure, invested in fire prevention, flood relief and enhanced winter operations, including citywide snow clearing of residential windrows and all city sidewalks.

- Multicultural and Faith-Based Outreach:
She supports advisory panels such as the Mayor’s Muslim Advisory Panel, encouraging collaboration, dialogue, and safety initiatives for diverse communities. - Expanding Youth and Senior Programs:
Through initiatives like the Malton Youth Hub and free MiWay transit for children and seniors, Mayor Parrish has made life more affordable and accessible, helping young people stay connected to their community. - Support for Local Organizations:
Mayor Parrish is a steadfast advocate for arts and culture in Mississauga, championing local artists, cultural organizations, and creative initiatives that enrich the city’s vibrancy and diversity. She actively collaborates with groups such as the Mayor’s Arts and Museum Advisory Committee, the Mississauga Sports Council and supports grassroots programs that promote physical activity and community outreach for all ages and abilities.

For more than a decade, Carolyn has hosted her annual Mississauga “Milk Fund” event, a personal, charitable initiative that raises vital funds for food banks in Mississauga, improving food security for families.
