A vibrant sense of community filled the streets during the recent School Streets Pilot Project at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Elementary School, where the road outside the school was temporarily transformed into a car-free space during afternoon pickup time.

The initiative was designed to create a safer, more welcoming environment for students and families by encouraging walking and cycling to and from school. The event showcased how public spaces can be reimagined to support active transportation, student safety, and stronger neighbourhood connections.

Students and staff helped bring energy and excitement to the afternoon, with the school choir entertaining visitors and fellow classmates through enthusiastic performances featuring singing and tambourines. The streets were also filled with bubbles, colourful chalk drawings, and smiling families enjoying the unique experience together.

The success of the pilot project reflected the dedication of teachers, the enthusiasm of students, and the strong community spirit surrounding the school.
