The City of Mississauga is launching a new type of sport – FlingGolf – at the Academy golf course at BraeBen.
FlingGolf provides players with a nine-hole experience similar to the game of golf with a lacrosse, baseball and hockey twist.
“We introduced FlingGolf at BraeBen because it can be played on the same course as regular golf without any changes to the course,” said Julie Mitchell, Manager of Golf and Food Services for the City. “It’s a great alternative to golf and easy for people of all ages and skill levels to play. It is an interesting variation for those who enjoy lacrosse, baseball and hockey.”
FlingGolf follows the same rules as a normal golf game; however, instead of using golf clubs to hit the ball, players use a FlingGolf stick to throw a golf ball around a regulation-sized golf course. Players then use the FlingGolf stick to putt into a hole. The objective is to sink a golf ball into the hole in as few shots as possible.
BraeBen is the first golf course in the Greater Toronto Area to introduce FlingGolf to the course.
Bookings for FlingGolf at the 9-hole Academy Golf Course are available can be made up to seven days in advance. FlingGolf Sticks will be available for players to rent.
