A councillor downwind from an incinerator proposed for south Brampton is concerned that a new waste-to-energy facility would aggravate Malton’s air pollution problems.
“I’m just giving everyone a heads up that I am not giving up on this one,” said Mississauga Councillor Carolyn Parrish on plans that could place a new incinerator on Torbram Road, south of Highway 407.
Parrish, elected to Mississauga Ward 5 last October, cited a recent study from the University of Toronto identifying Highway 427, near Pearson Airport, as one of Greater Toronto’s air pollution hotspots.
