Providing cheap transit for seniors is just the right thing to do, according to a Mississauga councillor.

Ward 5 councillor Carolyn Parrish is set to introduce a motion on Wednesday at council that will create a one-year pilot project where seniors can ride transit buses for $1.

The motion, which will be seconded by Ward 9 councillor Pat Saito, calls for City and transit staff to create a plan for the project that would start no later than May 1. It would allow seniors to ride MiWay buses, the city’s transit service, for $1 during non-peak hours, weekends and holidays.
