Carolyn Parrish has enjoyed an interesting and dynamic career, serving the residents of Mississauga for over 25 years, at several levels of government.
Currently re-energizing through a break from elected office, Carolyn continues to be involved in a variety of activities. A frequent contributor of political commentary and opinion pieces to a variety of publications, including the Toronto Star and the Mississauga News, she is also a regular guest on Talk Radio 1010.
Her favourite charity remains The Mississauga Food Bank for which she arranged for contributors to purchase a $100,000 refrigerated truck during her second year on Council. She raised another $50,000 in 2011 through a spectacular 25th Anniversary Concert at the Living Arts Centre.
Carolyn is currently working on an insightful yet humorous autobiography which captures a series of the more dramatic and colourful chapters in her life. It goes behind the scenes during one of the most interesting decades in Ottawa’s modern history and also tells you what really went on at the Mississauga Judicial Inquiry and the corridors of City Hall. Her anecdotes on some of our more famous public figures promise to make it a best seller.
Always a popular and entertaining speaker, Carolyn is becoming more involved with the Speakers’ Bureau of the Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians, focusing on human rights issues, the Canadian system of government and highlights of her own career. She has also scheduled guest lecturers at several prestigious universities in Europe and the Middle East over the coming year.
Carolyn is not finished with elected office just yet, insisting there’s definitely more to come.
