A plan to accommodate traffic during the four years of LRT construction has unearthed an age-old debate surrounding the future of McLaughlin Road.

A recommendation for road widening on McLaughlin Road, from Bristol Road West to Britannia Road West, aroused some debate amongst Ward 5 councillor Carolyn Parrish, Ward 4 councillor John Kovac and Ward 7 councillor Nando Iannicca. Parrish vowed to “defend that road to the death,” while Kovac and Iannicca claimed road widening is necessary to accommodate increased traffic on Highway 10, and in the downtown during LRT construction.
