Inclusionary zoning, tax breaks for developers and a land transfer tax were just a few ideas floated by Mississauga councillors determined to tackle the city’s affordable housing crisis.

On Monday, councillors endorsed a housing draft strategy that addresses the need to create affordable housing for the middle class while ensuring costs do not fall solely on the development industry. Making Room for the Middle: A Housing Strategy for Mississauga, offers 40 actions achievable through existing municipal powers.
