Some Mississauga councillors are intrigued with the idea of a ranked ballot system for municipal elections.

The Municipal Elections Act is under review by the province and the focus is on five specific areas – campaign finance, third party advertising, accessibility, enforcement and ranked ballots. An information package about the review included in yesterday’s (Wednesday, June 17) Governance Committee agenda notes that Ontario has committed to giving municipalities the option of using ranked ballots in the next municipal election in 2018.
