Politicians and stakeholders in Mississauga are cautiously optimistic about a slew of provincial measures to cool the housing market in the GTHA.

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne announced a 16-point plan to control skyrocketing real estate prices, including a 15 per cent foreign buyers tax and expanded rent controls for private units.

Dubbed the Fair Housing Plan, the province’s recommendations come in the midst of an unprecedented real estate boom that saw the average price for a detached home in Mississauga increase 27 per cent in one year.
